The Capt’

“Voyaging belongs to the seaman, and to the wanderers of the world who cannot, or will not fit in.  If you are contemplating a voyage and you have the means, abandon the venture until your fortunes change.  Only then will you know what the sea is all about.  I’ve always wanted to sail to the South Sea’s, but can’t afford it.  What they men can’t afford is not to go.  They are enmeshed in the cancerous discipline of security.  And in the worship of security we fling our lives beneath the wheels of routine, and before you know it, our lives are gone.”  -Sterling Hayden “Wanderer”

Basically, I’m tired of watching people work their whole lives away and then when they’re old enough to retire they’re too old to enjoy it.  It’s later than you think.  It’s time to go now.

  2. It was great to hear from you Dave. I knew you would not last a year in Hawaii, everyone’s been there! It’s perfect that you don’t know your next landfall, that’s what sailing is all about. Love your blog, we all live a little more through your adventure. Take care Capt.

  3. Hey Dave, reply Email didn’t work so I’ll copy it here.
“That’s great that you can Email and Blog from sea. And that you take the time to do so. I may have told you that I just got my Ham license, Gen and Tech. When I get an HF rig we will have to set up a time and freq. to meet, if we can. I am just learning this stuff, the tests don’t teach you shit. I will keep following your blog and wish you well til next time pal.
    Take care, Randy”

  4. Hey Dave, you better stay out of the water while you are under way. You will have a long swim if that sail boat gets away from you. Sounds like you need to catch some fresh fish. You may have to give flying fish a try if you can’t catch any thing else. Where are you going to try landing when you turn your course eastward? Take care. Fair winds & seas to you. Eddie
